A walk around the perimeter of the Sacks Playground shows the immediate need for improvements and renovations of the grounds and facilities. Let's start at the gate on the corner of 5th St and Washington Ave which should lead to the baseball fields but is permanently locked.

The fence line looking East on Washington Ave. is rusted and gaped along the bottom.

Continuing East on Washington we come to one of two dilapidated trailers that was installed a decade ago for storage due to the lack of a proper recreation center.

Here's another view of the same trailer on Washington looking west.

The Washington Ave. entrance by the basketball courts, showing missing fence railings.

The corner gate a 4th St. and Washington Ave.

A view looking South down 4th St. showing the Indego bike share station.

Continuing down 4th St. (but looking North), you see the back of the tiny Sacks Playground office and backrooms showing litter on the sidewalk. This spot outside of the playground is usually reserved for garbage pickup for both Sack and Jeffereson Park, often spilling into the street and occupying a parking spot.

On 4th St. looking South toward the corner of Federal St., notice the reoccurring graffiti.

Corner gate at 4th and Federal St. with a bent gate and steps usually littered with garbage.

Looking West on Federal St. with gray paint at the base of the fence covering graffiti.

Still on Federal St., a look at the exposed pump and filter of the pool with rusting metal and unsightly blue tarp that is hung each summer and left behind to deteriorate until the following year.

Still on Federal St. looking West, an used gate just past the pool rusting and bent.

Corner of 5th and Federal St., more graffiti and rust.

On 5th St. looking North toward Washington, with typical overgrown plants and litter.

Crumbling concrete of the fence line along 5th St.

And lastly, the broken sidewalk on 5th St. - across from Vare-Washington School - which attracts litter and dog refuse due to its overgrown and unkempt state.
